Office

GSEM Faculty

The creation of the Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM) is the result of a major collaboration between many of its members since autumn 2012. This new Faculty is positioned on four core values: excellence in teaching and research; social responsibility, participation in research and teaching projects leading to improvement in social well-being; community ties, with stronger relationships with the institutions, business, and international and humanitarian organizations in Geneva and the surrounding region; and disciplinary openness, with multiple collaborations through multidisciplinary centers and other academic institutions.

Dear members of BE GSEM ALUMNI,
As the founding Dean of the Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM), a Faculty of the University of Geneva, and also as an Alumnus in Economic Sciences of our Alma Mater, it is an honour and a great personal satisfaction to be able to address a warm welcome to the BE GSEM ALUMNI Association!
Since its creation date, the 1st of January 2014, the GSEM is striving to offer its academic added value to the society. Our fundamental values, excellence, social responsibility, community relation and openness have driven all the reforms that were needed to position the GSEM as an important partner for the business, economical and institutional community of Geneva and the region. This positioning also takes into account the strong international position of Geneva in the world.
The academic world is undergoing important changes, that have started some decades ago in the new continents, namely from a protected ivory tower, to an institution that has to reinforce its ties with the society. The University of Geneva is a public institution and as such has an even more important responsibility for its missions (education and research) to be driven by the sense of social responsibility, while maintaining its academic independence. It is therefore more than obvious that the GSEM, given the academic disciplines it is responsible for, has to play a crucial role.
In this framework, the involvement of the BE GSEM ALUMNI association is essential. What most efficient way for our Alma Mater to be more connected with the society through its ambassadors, the present and past students? We have all benefitted from the excellence of the professors during our studies, who have brought to us the most updated knowledge shared by the international academic community. We have used this knowledge for our professional carriers, sometimes even as a life experience. These benefits can only be enhanced through stronger ties and exchange of knowledge between the members of the community of past and present students, here and elsewhere.
I am therefore looking forward, and the members of the GSEM too, to be able to meet you at the numerous occasions organised by BE GSEM ALUMNI.
Yours sincerely,
Maria-Pia Victoria-Feser, Dean - GSEM
